Help

I've been asking literally every advisor and person I can but never really get a concise answer so I thought I might as well ask here in hopes someone knows

I'm trying to study for the MCAT for it later this year (August/September is my hope) but I literally hate reading textbooks. Like, I try to take notes with textbooks and I keep yawning every five to ten minutes or start thinking about ANYTHING else except for what I'm studying. It's gotten to the point that not even videos are helping because everyone talks super quietly and I retain nothing from writing notes.

All this jargon to ask: how do I study if not with a textbook?? I can't find a concise flashcard deck on Knowt (I'm not trying to spend my money on Quizlet for one feature) and I have the Kaplan extra practice stuff but is that enough/should I just do that??

Some stats(if that helps)

Pre test: 488

Gotten through gen chem and bio, taking orgo right now.

Strong background in psych (literally my major lol) and some in sociology

I do surprisingly well in CARS because it feels like SAT reading questions to me 🤷

Anyway, TYIA for any advice y'all can offer because I'm genuinely going to start from scratch for the third time this week.

How many hours should I attempt?

Basically just the title.

I have some extenuating circumstances that are forcing me to apply the next cycle and my stats are pretty meh to say the least. Especially my clinical hours as I can't meet some of the requirements.

I wanted to ask if anyone knows what average number of hours are actually feasible for me to complete in the next year and a half? Currently I have around 100+ volunteering hours and 60 hours of shadowing (which is basically all my clinical).

My current aim is MSUCOMS as it has the best DOPhD program and I'm a Michigan resident.

TYIA if anyone can give some advice

anyone who has had saldhana, can yall tell me if she's flexible with missing recitation one day out of the week? My classes got double booked (a different course with undefined class times only now released the times) and I can't make it to the recitation at all. I'll still do the work ofc, but wanted to see opinions

I'm very new to the whole idea of taking an mcat and wanted to ask for some resources/tips on how to get started. I've kind of hopped around this reddit page but don't have a finalized look of how I should start my process. What should I focus more on versus what 'makes sense'

Current Plan:
- Taking the MCAT later this year (hopefully ;-;)
- I'm using Knowt's various flashcards since i learn better through hours on the Learn function
- Hoping to get 500-520 range
- I'm a psych and neuro major so I have a background in the psych side of things (if that helps?)
- I haven't taken physics or biochem, but I have some experience with physics- otherwise, I've done gen chem and bio

hope that's a helpful list- I dunno if there's anything else i should add..?

tyia for the help :D

edit to add: if there are other free sources I would be super grateful for them!!
