Some background about myself, I never played competitvely or in my locals until recently. I started playing casually with friends during the Sun & Moon Era and took a break during Sword & Shield. I started playing again when Surging Sparks came out on PTCG Live and have been playing since then. I feel like I have a very good grasp on the meta and the staple cards people use and through trial and error I have also learned more nuanced rulings. I started playing in my locals during the beginning of the Mega Evolution Set and noticed some things.
I was playing a Sinistcha Deck using the TWM Poltchageist which has the "Storehouse Hideaway" Ability which does not allow attacks AND effects of attacks to be prevented if the pokémon is on the bench. I was playing against a Dragapault player and in the game state, my opponent had already taken 3 prize cards. I had a baby sinistcha as my active pokémon and 2 of these poltchageist on my bench. My opponent had played out their turn and had told me "thats game, isnt it?" and I clarified if they were attacking with Dragapault and they said they would put 3 damage counters on each of the poltchageist. I corrected them and told them they could not because of the ability on the Poltchageist. Obviously with my PTCGL experience, this type of move would be a misplay and the player would just take the L. However when I asked if he was done with his turn because of his attack, he then corrected himself and said "im not attacking", and proceeded to correct his play.
I know im quite new to locals so im not sure if misplays are treated like this. In PTCGL misplays are just silly mistakes but a different match in the local I had played in, I bossed up a single prizer instead of my opponent's Fezandipiti for game and like a good sport, I just took the L. But is it normal to backtrack on misplays? should i have called up a judge?
