I had a question about the liner in sallets. From what I gathered, the liner is sewn to a strip of leather that is riveted to the helmet. Here's my question though, why are these rivets not visible in the front of the helmet?
Is it the case that the rivets are there, but they were flattened to not be visible on the outside or that some sallets just didn't have rivets for the liner strap in the front?

Additional question about the chin strap, how were they attached? If I understand correctly, the the holes in the first image would normally have rivets holding that strap, right? But what about most sallets that don't seem to have additional rivets than the ones for the liner? Are they also just not visible on the outside or are they attached in a different way - to the liner strap for example?
