I’m a bit exhilarated on how much I actually enjoyed a mafia romance after so long. The {dark verse series} (1-3) and the 2&3 books of the {synonymous series} were my last successful reads.
I wouldn’t say this was a life changing read because it did have all the stereotypical elements of what usually dissuades me from reading mafia romances but it lacked degradation and had an actual decent male lead. That was good enough for me.
It also had a solid plot and reliable characterization of the main leads with traumatic histories that, to my opinion, excused their personalities. I enjoyed them both.
It’s so refreshing to pick up dark/mafia stories without its usual kinks following or with a stagnant, stale, cruel of a male lead paired with the doormat, ‘sassy’ fmc.
Anyone have a recommendation where dub/noncon, degradation, bdsm aren’t in them? I’d appreciate it so much.
