Whose **** do I have to **** around here to core my province

Coring your location feels like it should be a core experience of the game but gosh darn it why is it so difficult.

Ive played since launch patch and since then to core my location I have gone through

  1. Inheriting it from my vassal (if it's also their core)

  2. Enforcing culture to my vassal

  3. Throwing multiple cabinet member to assimilate same province.

There were three so far because apparently they were all exploits. With a new patch it got patched out, I relearn the game, and then apparently new way is exploit too. Again and again.

So now at 1.2 I got two cabinet members, one to increase control one to assimilate and it takes me like 70 years to core small location of mid size control. Why is it like this? What am I supposed to do? Do some convoluted vassal release/ally and then improve cultural opinion for each culture I wanna assimilate? Ok I'll learn that. Will that turn out to be exploit as well and patch out in 1.3?

Again however why is it like this? Why is 1) the developer envision coring to be insanely difficult and 2) tied to a culture? For a 14th century king was it really necessary for a location to share same/similar culture to him for him to consider it an integral part of his kingdom? This is centuries before nation state.

It could be so many other things. For example. If a king developed his new Conquest, it is likely he sees it as an integral part of his realm. Or maybe if a character from a location is worthy enough to be his cabinet member. Or if the queen comes from there? Or maybe link it to this new upcoming ambition system. Maybe the king can dream to own a specific location, make it his high priority ambition. If he managed to conquer it? By definition that location should be an integral part of the kingdom. Point is, yes I think culture can be a factor in integrated status. But it should not be the only one and I hate seeing yellow patchmarks in my map.
