This is Vonn, the deuteragonist of the sci-fi story I am writing and illustrating. He is an Omenite. His aesthetic design is meant to echo classic-era sci-fi aliens - a little bit Greedo, a little bit ‘The Fly’, and some Yeti thrown in there too. His eyes are snub dodecahedrons, which is an indispensable part of his character.
“What is my species?”
“I don’t know. I’ve never seen one of you before.”
Vonn’s tone suddenly took on a morose quality.
“We died out long ago. Our world suffered a terrible collapse at our own hand, and the interstellar colonies were composed only of males. They could not breed, then died out as well.”
“I’m sorry,” Jenkins commiserated half-heartedly.
“I can reassure you it was not your fault. This happened long before you were….”
A wailing, electronic buzz interrupted them, which Vonn silenced with the twist of a knob.
“It is nearing time to land,” the fuzzy pilot said, “I will switch to manual control. And one thing: I suggest you to use the sink to wash yourself before we exit the ship.”
