Hi everyone,

I’m an international student planning to come to the U.S. for a master’s program, and I had a few questions that I haven’t been able to find clear answers to.

Does the university get notified or find out if my F-1 visa has been approved or refused? Or do they only know if I inform them myself?

Is there any system (like SEVIS or anything similar) where the visa status gets updated automatically for the university to see?

If there was any correction or update in my visa status, would that reflect anywhere on the university’s side (like SEVIS/CIT), or is everything completely separate?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process or knows how it works from the university/DSO side.
