Hello Everyone! I was hoping I could get your input and experiences with Self Driving Cars for a school project, specifically traffic incidents with Self Driving Cars you may have observed or even experienced.
Growing up in SF, all these changes to our streets have been more than sudden. It felt like just last week, Muni moved over to the Hybrid busses and the great highway was still open. Today, one of the more apparent changes in our streets are the presence of Self Driving cars. These vehicles look and feel safe, actively allowing pedestrians to cross, driving at constant speed, and sitting at stop signs for a full five seconds. However, they should still be subject to a level of concern given the nature of the technology. Mainstream media tends to hyper-fixate on collisions and other safety concerns. My survey aims to observe areas that self driving cars may struggle to function optimally, the reasons for their struggles, and how their behaviors can help other cities when introducing self driving cars to their streets. So if you observed an incident related to self driving cars, then I would be more than grateful if you could take around five minutes of your time to fill out the survey/report form.
