I recently transferred into UCF last summer and chose data science as my major but now I’m hearing it may not be worth it here since it’s so new. I have about two years left of college and that’s when I would get into my specific core classes so I’m curious as to whether I should continue or not. If I do switch my major I would choose Statistics BS with an Actuarial sciences minor or Econ minor. It’s very adjacent and I would actually finish a semester faster if I chose Stat.
Just curious for both data science and stat majors, what do you think about your program?(Pros and cons wise) Also has anyone dealt with the same or similar situation and have any advice or guidance ?
