I had my final interview with a stat board 2 weeks ago. I checked in with HR a week after the final interview if there’s any update and to keep me posted as I’m still interested. HR said there’s no update yet. Ive heard that gov job takes a long time to process. But wouldnt they already know if they are interested with a candidate before seeking approval. How long should I wait before checking in with HR again just to know if I’m being considered or not.

if they are not interested with a candidate no approval is required hence there should an update right?
