Endometriosis Surgery

Hi ladies, I’m a 30F with a low AMH of 0.69, no prior pregnancies, miscarriages, or live births. My husband and I weren’t quite ready for kids yet, but we wanted to get a better understanding of our fertility and hopefully bank embryos for the future, especially knowing how fertility statistics can change after 35. Unfortunately, it feels like opening Pandora’s box.

We found out my husband has low sperm count and motility, and I have diminished ovarian reserve. We went through our first IVF cycle and retrieved 8 eggs, all mature. 5 fertilized, 3 made it to day 6, but unfortunately all 3 came back genetically abnormal. That result crushed me more than I expected.

Since then, we’ve done additional testing and it looks like my husband may have immature sperm, so our doctor is recommending a TESA. On my side, I’ve long suspected endometriosis. I recently did the ReceptivaDx biopsy and tested positive. My RE says endometriosis wouldn’t cause abnormal embryos and that we were likely just unlucky, but part of me wonders if the endo could explain my low AMH at 30 and why all of our embryos were abnormal.

I would really love to hear from anyone who has gone through excision surgery — how was your experience, and did it improve your IVF outcomes or help you get pregnant afterward? Right now I just feel overwhelmed and would appreciate hearing others’ stories.

Is it worth it to do it? Or am I just throwing everything at the wall and hoping it sticks?
