Kress twins thought

I have been thinking about this a bunch. I know it's fiction and not to be taken as scientifically accurate but .. I keep wondering because it's fun interesting to think about :D 🤔

So I know that it is alluded to that Otto and Arora were born conjoined + chimera? due to Kress Chemical chemical exposure during their mother's pregnancy.

Assuming two normal (male and female) fetuses fused, why did they still turn out to look distinctly female and male?

Assuming they share a blood supply and have corresponding ovaries/testes to their chromosomes, they would be producing female amounts of estrogen and male amounts of estrogen.

They would be exposed to this and would usually lead to a difference in sexual development ..

So why are they distinctly female / male appearing still?

I want to hear people's thoughts 🤔 💭 and I know it's not to be taken as something exactly scientifically accurate it's cool fun interesting
