Kia WTY039 Extended Warranty – Anyone in Canada had success with this?
Kia launched extended warranty campaign WTY039 in May 2024 covering 2014–2015 Sorento, 2015–2016 Sedona, and 2014–2017 Cadenza with the 3.3L GDI Lambda II engine for head gasket/head bolt failure. In the US it extends coverage to 15 years or 180,000 miles.
Looking for Canadian owners specifically:
1. Did you receive a WTY039 notice from Kia Canada, or did you have to ask for it?
2. Did a Canadian dealer honour it, and was the km equivalent (roughly 290,000 km) applied?
3. If you’d already paid out of pocket for a head gasket or engine repair, did Kia Canada reimburse you?
4. Any pushback from dealers or Kia Canada when you referenced WTY039?
I know this is a US NHTSA-driven program — trying to figure out if Kia Canada has issued an equivalent or if owners are having to fight for it individually.
