Law & Order Robinette
I watched another old episode today where Robinette shows his application and interpretation of the law regarding sentencing applied between white and black, because he felt in this particular case which is the episode and my hand is not going to work well enough with my remote to get the name of it, I think it's season 3, the one where the mother killed her daughter, Dawn who stole at gunpoint her grandmother's bearer bonds...Robinette also took it upon himself to investigate further based on the family's phone calls, he kept questioning - Even after the father had planted the gun that belonged to the drug dealer. Ben and Adam wanted to give the Mother a break in sentencing after her confession as if it were justified; but because the family had actually set someone else up for the murder, Robinette pointed out they were giving them special treatment because they were black, and that didn't justify or make things right. Anyway I thought it showed yet another episode of his intellectual way of applying the law fair and balanced. Even when he left and returned to defend the former nun/nurse? who sterilized several black females via IUD without their knowledge - he made some pretty heavy comments to McCoy about the differentials in applying the law fairly to black and white. We cannot say with a straight face the law has always been applied fairly to the black population; they have been treated unfairly and wrongfully accused of crimes in real life. In this particular case Robinette brought out the wrong in a family justifying a Mother who wrongfully accused & set up a drug dealer of killing their daughter because they were black. In their minds, the dealer he deserved to die because He was their daughter's dealer and he did give her the gun. Unfortunately he just happened to be black! The law is a crazy thing sometimes it's just not fair, but Robinette kept it fair and on point in that case. His character was a damn good & fair ADA for the prosecution.
I hope this is coming across well enough, as always opinions are welcome - constructive criticism not too harsh ❣️ because I'm in pain, but still? I can't learn without it.
