I just got a new (to me) 2022 bmw 530i with 30k km on it. After a touchless car wash that I went through urgently due to being blasted by a sanitation track on the road, I noticed these spots on my windows.

There was a clanking glass sound at the touchless car wash after I pressed the button to pull my mirrors in mid wash. But on close inspection of the mirror travel radius and the fact that it’s on both sides I’m thinking that’s unrelated.

I am thinking I simply didn’t notice these before but they are bothering me quite a bit now. I tried invisible glass with a microfibre cloth and it did not help. The scratches feel slightly raised when running my fingernail over them. The one on drivers side is in a similar spot but smaller.

CharGPT seems to think its “mineral spotting with possible surface marring underneath” caused by build up of hard water or grime build up”.

It seems to think cerium oxide glass polish or some other chemical clean can fix it. I would probably not do it myself and take it to a detailer.

Can anyone advise if that sounds right and how much this may be to fix? As well as whether there is any risk in stripping glass too much with polish.

Hopefully I get used to driving this car and getting wear that signifies me enjoying the vehicle but with it being new to me and the most expensive car I even bought after saving up cash for outright purchase, it bothers me a lot lol. Thanks so much for your help!
