Lingual Tonsil Hypertrophy
Has anyone here had their lingual tonsils removed?
I had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy when I was about 5 years old. I’m currently 24, and my tonsils have grown back into massive tonsil stumps. I have obstructive sleep apnea, from what I thought was the tonsil stumps, but it turns out the bigger problem is my lingual tonsils. No wonder it’s felt like I’ve had a golf ball in my throat. I went to the ENT and he recommended this sleep palette device thing (I forgot what it’s called) to just address the apnea, but I’m already on CPAP. Another option was surgery to remove the lingual tonsils. It’s been a few months since the ENT visit because I’ve worried about the recovery, but I’ve been experiencing dysphagia and been choking on tougher foods (not to mention the constant sore throats). So it’s looking like the better option is surgery.
