Cork County Council / Street Parking App (Ridiculous)
Had to street park in Cork recently, used the App which I had done before and is super handy if you’re quickly parking. Had to top up the app (essentially how you would top up your leap card, more or less, just to clarify for the people who might have not used it before)
However there was an error with the app, me thinking that the transaction didn’t go through, balance was still 0.00 on the app, so I re-tried and got charged twice on the card without the app balance updating. The app is designed super old school and most likely hasn’t been updated in god knows how long so it can get glitchy and it’s not the most friendly User Interface/Experience. And in all honesty it was definitely made in a lazy way from a technical point of view. Anyways, got in touch with them and had proof etc. they have been absolutely useless. Still not rectified. Not super surprised.
I’m sure this has happened to other people, and sorry about the rant but it’s something that is obviously there to be used for the sake of obviously not getting a parking ticket. So I kindly ask get the App in order. People would like to use it. And get it Updated asap! It’s 2026! Parking discs are a trek to get and if they are putting an App out there, at least make it up to standard! It’s honestly not even about the money at this stage but just pure frustration of how something that should make your life just that bit more convenient is making it more complex.
