LIFT instead of lay open
Hello everyone. I was booked for a fistulotomy on a transphincteric fistula with what appeared to have very tiny amount of external sphincter involvement. I woke up having had a LIFT done instead as when the CRS looked there was too much muscle and he didn’t feel comfortable doing the lay open (clearly a good decision). All of my research and recovery prep was on a lay open so far, so would really appreciate any advice for a LIFT recovery and what to expect. Any positive stories very welcome too as I feel pretty despondent - I only recall seeing LIFT failure stories. Thank you.
