Some images of my Lucihormetica verrucosa roaches.
They aren't just visually appealing but also display entertaining behaviors: food is carried around with their front legs until they find an undisturbed feeding spot. Otherwise, they move at a fairly leisurely pace and burrow into the substrate to sleep. The females are ovoviviparous and when they give birth they also dig a small underground chamber where they spend the first hours with their young.
Since the animals like to burrow, I keep them at 24°C in about 20 cm of deciduous forest humus, along with some cork bark for climbing. Dry cat food serves as their main diet, while fresh vegetables and regular watering and misting of the substrate provide a water source. But they will eat almost anything and even munch on cork bark. Because the adult animals are glass climbers, a lid is recommended. Overall, their care is quite straightforward and they breed easily. I think they are a great and underappreciated beginner species.
