I am just seeking for an advice how to write an answer to one of the Activities that I have. Any help will be grateful or any advice.
This is the scenario
Scenario:
Dodel Inc is a parcel distribution company with depots across the UK. There are 20 delivery vehicles and around 35 staff per depot. Agency workers are used from time to time and contractors are regularly on site to perform repairs/works to the depot and vehicles.
The front and rear of the depot have large roller shutter doors that allow for the entrance and departure of vehicles. Outside the depot, there is a parking zone for vehicles but no designated bays. Parcels are stored in roller cages on the sides of the depot and are loaded into vehicles by warehouse operatives. There is a constant flow of medium to large sized vehicles during operating hours.
The majority of parcels tend to weigh between 1 – 40kg but some can weigh up to 250kg. There is a depot office that handles parcel processing and delivery routes, and has a collection/drop off point for members of the public.
Situation:
An agency worker, on their first day at the Dodel Inc. depot, slips in the parking zone and fractures their wrist. The area was poorly lit, and a recent vehicle repair had left a patch of oil on the concrete floor. The agency worker’s employer was not given any information about the depot's site safety rules.
Task: Legal Duties and Financial Consequences
(a) Based on the scenario, identify specific duties under the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974 that Dodel Inc. may have breached.
(b) Identify the potential direct and indirect financial costs that Dodel Inc. could face as a result of this incident.
How would you write it? I am looking for tips from the experts.
