We are doing a full kitchen remodel, but I work from home and my husband is retired. if you don't work from home, do you just hand over the keys? what about your pets?

Been planning this for months, picking out all of the cabinets, sinks, etal. Demo was Monday, complete demo, clean up and plastic wrapped the area, covered our hard wood floors. all in less than 8 hours. I have read so many horror stories, but I think we hired a good quality GC.
