FIREing with kids pre-university

Lots of posts about post FIRE lifestyle change for the grown-ups, but for those who still have younger kids, how has your retirement affected their lifestyle (good or bad).

Obviously the financial considerations have already (hopefully) been taken into account, but what about the rest? I'm guessing most people enjoy the FIRE life because they can be more present for their children, whether its school, extracurriculars, or anything else that lets the kids live their best life. That said, I'm curious if/how the change is received by younger kids.

Has their view of work and money changed by seeing you 'not working'? Do they benefit from more travel and other experiences? Has anyone done anything bold, like switching to online schooling and traveling the country in an RV, or leaving the older kids alone so the parents can take extended an trip?

I (like most people) was down on CJ after his playoff performance, but I didn't really lose confidence in him. Then something happened in the offseason that reaffirmed my belief in him: he cut his hair.

No, this isn't about some deep, symbolic meaning behind it — its purely that he looks sooo young now. Like, now he looks his age.

Stroud is 24. He's been in the NFL since he was 21 and has had a huge amount of success, despite obvious growing pains. He should enter his prime this coming season, and he probably won't even hit peak QB for another two or three seasons. The table is set for him.

I told y'all this was a stupid take.

I keep thinking about a random scene, but don't remember the season, let alone the episode. If anyone can figure it out its gotta be someone in this sub.

(All of the following description is "I think that's what happened" in nature.)

In the scene, Jeff hurriedly approaches Annie in the hallway from behind. When Annie turns around she looks a little startled, like he interrupted her from something (even thought she was just seemingly walking down the hall). Jeff is anxiously trying to convince here why he is right in some argument with the group, trying to win Annie to his side. She engages, nods and seemingly agrees, but never actually speaks. Instead, she just gives these random sounds of approval ('mm-hmm', and so on) and expressive facial expressions. It's not a super consequential scene to the episode, but I remember thinking how odd (and deliberate) it was that she didn't speak during the scene and how it felt like perhaps there was another scene that was cut which would have explained why.

Any guesses?
