I love when i get to serve families with kids, they make my whole day everytime i get to serve food to families with kids who have the best responses to everything, or when they’re shy and can’t quite decide what they want. that’s the case in a restaurant environment alone where i can give them proper attention. please don’t have your kids order through a speaker at a drive thru though. i feel there are many other ways to teach kids proper social skills and how to order than to put them up to a speaker with a fast food employee who already has a line of customers and is overwhelmed themselves. We love them but over a speaker all we hear is mumbling from the back seat. When we ask for you to repeat the order because we couldn’t hear and your child says the same thing again in the same tone and volume, i ask the driver again to repeat, they usually get annoyed and start talking to me like i’m gum on their shoe for not understanding their kid from the backseat through a speaker. “why do you serve ice cream if you don’t want a kid to order it” “how can you talk that way to a kid??” (i asked if the driver could talk so it was closer sound for me to hear, not even mentioning it was anything to do with how the kid was talking.) I know most of parents think we’re snobby teenagers who just choose to make them wait for their food, or be dicks for no reason but most of us are there to support our families too we just didn’t have good parents to set us up for college or anything else so we’re here. i’m supporting my own parents and drowning, im really sorry if i politely ask you to speak instead of your child, it hurts me too but please understand instead of thinking we’re just out to be assholes. my manager gets at me when your order is past 4 minutes let alone if you haven’t even finished ordering within 3-5 minutes
