UPDATE!!! Took him to the vet and he has an infection. It’s an abscess so the doctor gave him a shot for two weeks and it should drain out by itself. Thank you guys for ur concern and memes. My cat’s name is Walter and he’s so happy the vet visit is over!

my cat is 1yr old male and neutered (i’m 21F from US)

Please see pictures. The first one was two days ago (April 23) in the afternoon when I first noticed a swelling under his chin. I thought he looked funny and presumed it was a bad reaction to a bug bite since he hangs around by the windowsill. A day after the swelling went down, I observed the area and it’s still hard and very circular in shape. It’s on the left half of his chin. That’s the second picture and third picture. Today (April 26) the swelling is about the same. It’s not inflamed? I’m just super worried about my cat and usually overreact when he doesn’t eat like he normally does.

Other than the observation on his chin, he’s behaving like normally. Shows normal activity level and doesn’t seem to be in pain when eating. He was grimacing today so I’m worried again about his comfort.

What should I do? Is this a normal reaction to a bug bite or is it something bigger to be worried about? I can afford vet care. He’s been to the emergency vet before.
