Been playing for a while, a small club in Sussex in the United Kingdom , we played a larger club in a cup game and lost today, they absolutely deserved the win and the ref was great, he missed a held up try but I understand it’s very hard to prove a held up try.
I wanted to discuss how hard it’s becoming for smaller clubs to grow.
We played a larger at a low level and often you are playing larger clubs who seem to just have a larger pool of higher calibre players.
Ive felt for years that the numbers are dropping although saying that I have seen some younger lads (im a senior player not old yet but rugby old)
Are there other clubs that have experienced similar issues?
How do we grow when all we can offer is being hammered for 80 minutes by guys that should be playing in a higher league (maybe it’s a case of dropping leagues until we are more competitive)
All thoughts and opinions welcome.
