I'm an 18 year old who's about to graduate high school and want to do a lot of backpacking (locally in the mountains and stuff) this summer, but none of my friends are the outdoorsy type. I’m based in the bay area and am planning to go into the Sierra Nevadas , some places out in Utah/Colorado, and other similar areas. I'm not 100% opposed to going alone but am not super eager about the idea because having company is fun (taking pictures, talking, etc) and safety. Any advice on how to find someone my age to go with?

Hi I have an old SX-70 that I just tested with the original old film that was in it and the photos came out blank/dark grey even though I shot outside and with appropriate exposure; how do I know if this is the camera not producing photos or just the old expired film?
