Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils 2018

My first ever Chateauneuf Du Pape!! I got into aging my own wines about four years ago and this is one of the first bottles I decided to pop open. Decanted it for about an hour before I took my first sips, the wine had a weird dry beefy taste which worried me at first (it reminded me of a wine that I had hated previously) but once it opened it up a little more the notes hit metallic, cigar and cherry. I also loved the dryness and how mellow it was. A great way to start Mother’s Day weekend!!
