Help with DA project ideas

Hi everyone,

I have question for people who are working for a long time and people who recently got a data analyst job, I’ve completed 2 data analytics projects so far, and for my 3rd project I want to build something much more SQL-heavy to improve my problem-solving and interview skills.

The issue is I’m struggling to find good project ideas that are realistic and actually help me grow in SQL beyond basic queries.

I’d really appreciate suggestions for:

- SQL-heavy project ideas

- Datasets with real business problems

- Projects that helped you personally during interviews

Also, if anyone is open to reviewing my current projects and guiding me a bit personally, please feel free to DM me. I’m trying to improve seriously and would value honest feedback from experienced people.

Thanks!

Need help: TL messing with attendance & week offs during notice period

I’m currently on notice period (last working day: 9th May) and facing 2 issues:

Week-off issue My TL has assigned my week offs as Saturday & Sunday in my last week, which forces me to work the entire week. I requested a swap/change but she is refusing.

Attendance / leave issue Earlier, I took leaves based on discussion with TL: Plan was → 2 leaves + 2 week offs + 1 extra week off next week (so I work one week with only 1 off).

Now attendance shows:

3 leaves

2 week offs

Next week only 1 week off

So basically I’m losing 1 leave (money).

When I asked, TL said I’m only allowed 9 week offs/month, so extra got deducted as leave. But I checked with colleagues — some have 10 week offs + leaves.

Also this is not the first time — earlier she wrongly marked my working day as week off and I had to fight to fix salary.

A supervisor suggested: ask TL once more, if she refuses → go to manager.

My questions:

Can TL selectively reduce week offs like this?

If I worked on a week off earlier, shouldn’t it be adjusted instead of marking leave?

What’s the best way to escalate without messing up my exit or F&F?

I have chat proof of earlier agreement.

Any advice on how to handle this smartly (not emotionally)?

Hi everyone,

I’m interested in getting started with automation and eventually earning from it, but I’m not sure where to begin.

For those who are already doing automation work:

- How did you start?

- What skills or tools should I focus on first?

- How can a beginner actually start making money with automation?

I’d really appreciate any guidance or direction.

Thanks!
