Hi ! About 1,5 months ago I had intense scalp burning, tingling, headaches, and sweating, hot flashes. I went to the ER, they found nothing alarming. My doctor suspected occipital neuralgia. I started neck exercises, cleaned up my diet (low GI, no sugar, no processed food, no coffee), took B12, vitamin D and magnesium supplements, and symptoms disappeared gradually. I also have an appointment with a physiotherapist coming up.

Recently I relapsed. I ate a lot of high-histamine foods (chocolate, cured meats, sardines, avocado, strawberries, pizza with tuna, fast food). Symptoms came back at a lower level: scalp burning, tingling, heat throughout the body, sweating, sneezing.

Now I’m wondering if occipital neuralgia was the right diagnosis, or if histamine intolerance / MCAS could be the underlying cause. I mean with the ON being triggered by histamine-driven neurogenic inflammation. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hi! Is it possible to have neuropathy in the scalp area, with nothing in the hands or feet? I’ve been experiencing burning sensations and tingling on my scalp, along with heat and sweating throughout the body. I’ve had a lot of tests done to rule out other conditions and nothing alarming was found. I also have known deficiencies in B12 and vitamin D, and I’m currently being tested for insulin resistance. Starting to wonder if that could be related. thanks !
