I just leased a 2026 Mazda CX-30. Since I was coming from a 2010 Honda Civic, it was like a dream in a spaceship. However, this spaceship had a push button. Somehow I must have ended up in what I've learned is called accessory mode when just the electronics are on. I then exited the car and locked it. Anyways, a few hours later the car wouldn't start and I noticed that the brake lights were still faintly on even though the car was off and locked. The battery was so dead that AAA couldn't start the car so I had to ride with tow truck back to the dealer. The mechanic called to say that the battery has been charged and car fine for pickup. However, the log the mechanic sent me shows the Ignition on (which now I know means not the engine but accesory mode in this case) for 165 minutes. The loaner Mada 3 they gave me automaticaly powers down all electronic components within a few minutes if I leave the car and lock it still in accessory mode. Additionally, the car manual says that everything should power down within 25 minutes. The dealer is telling me that the "ignition on timer for the vehicle which will not time out on the vehicle to save the battery." So now I'm totally confused. I can see from the car's log they sent me that they performed a software update. My guess is that they missed doing a software update before handing me the leased car and that this would have prevented my problem? Just wondering if I have grounds to ask them to at least replace the battery with a new one or give me a leased vehicle that doesn't have these issues after 1 week.
