Dear god, the diarrhea

Folks, help. I am on Week 1 of MJ (2.5mg) and I am struggling with the side effects.

For the first 24 hours, I didn't really feel anything.

For the second 24 hours, I had waves of nausea and queasiness. Then for the last 24 hours, I have struggled with explosive diarrhea and burping. 🫠

It is so bad, that I needed to take the day off work - even though I work from home. I was up all night, going back and forth to the bathroom.

I think I made the mistake of eating regularly yesterday and had big meals with lots of protein. Today though, I have had toast and a banana, water with electrolytes and Imodium.

Nothing is working. 🫣 Please tell me what has helped you.

I am due to travel to Galway this weekend for a girls weekend and I am genuinely terrified that I won't make the journey without shitting myself. 🥲 #brutalreality

Titration Query - too much, too soon?

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I'm very appreciative that this forum exists. I've found it very helpful as I have started to learn about Mounjaro.

I went to my doctor last week and was prescribed Mounjaro. I, like a lot of other people, was anticipating pushback but my doctor was very open to prescribing a GLP1. To be honest, she was nearly too casual about it. I had read the book 'Weightless' as I explored treatment options for weight management and I'm so happy I did. It was from that that I realised that Mounjaro was probably more suited to me than Ozempic because I have arthritis and struggle with joint and mobility issues. I also have ADHD so managing food noise and the urge to use food as a stimulant are challenges.

However, when I said this to my doctor, they didn't really seem to be able to advise on what medication would work better for me. Their main point is that Ozempic is cheaper than Mounjaro - an important factor, yes, but not the only one. They also didn't advise me to get a DEXA scan done which I know from the book is important because it gives you a more realistic and holistic image of your body composition. If I just focus on BMI, I may miss out on the importance of understanding my muscle to fat ratio.

All of this is to say that I had some doubts about the degree to which my doctor is clued in. She prescribed me a 6 month prescription.

Month 1: 2.5mg
Month 2: 5mg
Month 3: 7.5mg
Months 4 - 6: 10mg

I understand that 2.5mg is the starting dose, but I have also read that it's recommended to stay on a dose for as long as possible if it is working. I'm concerned my doctor has ramped it up quite quickly that I won't get the full benefit of lower doses if I'm increasing the dose too quickly.

I'd love to understand if this is common or whether I should maybe consider speaking to my doctor and arrange more check-ins along the way. For now, I'm not expected to come back until I hit the 6 month mark.
