Hi! Second pregnancy (first ended in a loss at 9w), no LC, still very new to this. Went for my standard 11 week prenatal bloodwork and it looks like my A1C is borderline high for now.. which isn’t great for this early on in the pregnancy? So now GD is on my radar and I’m interested in learning more. What did your levels look like in the beginning of the pregnancy and how did it progress?

I’m also being closely monitored for my short cervix :( where exercise should be limited - so this feels like a whole nother complication that I know very little about!

Update: at my 10 week appt I was referred to a MFM due to 2.8cm cervix. I was pregnant (ended up miscarrying at 9w) only 4 months ago when I measured 3.3cm so not sure why it’s changing already when I haven’t even entered the 2nd tri yet..

I met the MFM yesterday who took another measurement and this time it was 2.6cm. Exactly 11 weeks. He recommended we monitor weekly from now until 24 weeks and will start progesterone if it gets closer to 2cm.

He did an exam and gave even MORE bad news.. if I end up needing a cerclage I can’t do a trans vaginal one, it NEEDS to be trans abdominal cerclage because of scar tissue/ irregular tissue from repeat colposcopies due to my persistent HPV CIN1-2 for the past 6 years. No one ever told me the colposcopies could have consequences?? I was planning to get a LEEP after this pregnancy but wow even BEFORE I get the leep done I already have a short cervix and irregular tissue down there? that is so depressing. Especiallyy because there is evidence that vaginal delivery can help HPV/CIN2 regress naturally BUT transabdominal cerclages require a c section😭. And it’s a full-on operation in the second tri of pregnancy? Ugh

There’s also such conflicting recommendations out there on if exercise is okay and if so, what type. Exercise is the one thing that helps me keep my mental health steady. Now I’m nervous to make anything worse.

This is my first pregnancy post missed miscarriage which in itself has been SO hard but now I’ve been totally caught off guard by my cervix length which will keep me worried for the second trimester as well🫠. I’m thankful for this group. I’ve asked around to other mom friends and pregnant women and seems like no one else struggles with short/insufficient cervix. Would love to hear your guys’ stories..
