Massive Falling Object Hazard

I made a post 2 days ago about a hazard I wanted to create involving a massive object falling, or something similar to those Super Mario World traps where the ceiling closes down on your head and crushes you.

The issue is that if it's a truly massive object, something extremely heavy, I haven't really found rules about damage for things like that. Honestly, something like that would probably just kill you instantly anyway.

So I had an idea, and I'd like to hear your opinions about it. I was thinking of making a hazard with a periodic activation or something similar, where when the object falls onto a creature, they get a Reflex save. On a failure, success, or critical success, the creature would move out of the falling area's space through forced movement or something similar — assuming the character has enough movement speed to actually get out of the hazard's area.

For example, if a creature can't move at all, then it basically wouldn't be able to escape the hazard zone, since it physically can't move away.

Honestly, I'm pretty lost on how to handle this. I'm not a huge fan of insta-kill mechanics like this, since I can definitely see the problems with them, but at the same time, it's kind of the only way I could think of to make a hazard like this feel believable. Like I said, if something massive falls directly on someone's head, it would usually just kill them.

So I'm wondering if there are any existing PF2e hazards or mechanics that are somewhat similar and could work as a reference. This post is mostly me looking for ideas on how to make something like this work in a way that still makes sense mechanically.

In the other post I made, I used the example of something like a 3x3 marble pillar or another extremely heavy material falling.

PS: I'd love to hear your ideas on how you'd handle something like this mechanically. I'm open to any kind of suggestion or alternative approach.

Rules for Massive Objects Falling onto Creatures

To be brief, I was wondering if there are any rules regarding creatures being crushed, like those classic traps where the ceiling descends until it crushes them. In my case, I made a corridor where some pillars fall from the sky, very large and massive objects (3x3). I wanted to know if a player is in the middle of the grid of one of these pillars, should they make a Reflex save to try to avoid the area where it would fall, but then move out of the way of the fall? What is the appropriate damage for something so heavy? I saw in some posts that this should be a hazard.

Hi everyone, first of all I just want to say that I don't intend to attack any 3-party content or homebrew; that's not my intention with this post. Anyway, getting to the point, six months ago my players and I decided to start using the PF2e system. Honestly, so far it's been a great experience, since we used the D&D 5e system before. The discrepancy in rules and balance is huge. The main point is, when I used the D&D 5e system, I used a lot of 3-party content. The main issue is that, even with more well-known and "balanced" content, I still had noticeable problems with combat balancing and even some very strong abilities. My players' group was level 8, and even so, they could still go toe-to-toe with creatures of level 16 or higher, largely because most of them like to combo. I also didn't enjoy many combats because many of them had a spell called Silvery Barbs and other abilities, which in my opinion was quite annoying because I had to reroll my rolls 5 or 6 times for the same thing, so for me it was quite complicated. I felt the game was falling apart due to the imbalance, but anyway, when I changed the system EVERYTHING got much, much better. I really started to enjoy teamwork in combat more, something that in D&D was only about who would kill the creature faster, now it had become something about collaboration, which I particularly appreciate more. After 6 months using the PF2E system, a player recently came to me with the idea of adding 3-party content. I definitely don't know anything about this type of content in PF2E, so I'm very hesitant to add it or not. I always prioritize fun, so I wanted to know from you guys, is there a danger in adding this type of content to PF2E? A large part of my fear in D&D was that the game's own balancing system didn't help itself. I know that In PF2E it's much better, so I think it's safer. From what I've seen, the content he wants to add is one of the "most" reliable in terms of 3-party content. I wanted to know your honest opinion about this fear I have, and if it's okay and I don't need to worry about it. Sorry if it seems like I'm being overly apprehensive about this, but I don't want to end up messing up the system's mechanics with something considered "unbalanced".

PS: The 3-party content in question is from Team+ (Witches+ and others).
