Donkey or Lord Farquaad?

I have a callback coming up for both parts, and I’d be happy with either. Donkey’s a bigger character, but Farquaad is such a smarmy villain, and I haven’t played a villain before.

Which part do you think would be more fun?

A Lead Role Wasn’t Cast…Yet?

Asking out of curiosity. For context, I had a callback for Georg (and Kodaly) in She Loves Me at a community theatre a few days ago. I didn’t expect to get the part, not because I thought the callback went poorly, but because the traveling and lack of runtime made it hard for me fully commit, especially with another show happening much closer to home that I was also going for. I wasn’t going to audition at all, until some friends convinced me to give it a try. I told the director that I would love to try and do both (should they want me), but that I didn’t want them to bend over backwards trying to accommodate my schedule.

So they told me they couldn’t offer me a part. No big deal. But here’s the thing. Some friends of mine who did get cast told me the cast list had Georg as “TBD”. There were two other guys called back for the role.

Is this common? Has this happened to any of you before? I’m just surprised.
