Filter help

So I want to start a new tank with a canister filter, but I want to speed up the cycle by putting some of the pervious filter media in it. But I don’t know where?

Aqua soil

Hi, so I washed a bit of the aqua soil. But apparently it’s bad? And ive already put it in my tank and idk what to do. Should I get new aqua soil and put it in?
