New driveway over existing gravel drive
I'm in the process of getting quotes to do my large driveway in Pennsylvania. One company estimated the size of around 670sqyd. They would do 3" compacted 25mm binder and then 1.5" 9mm wearing course. They would excavate and regrade (we have an existing gravel driveway). Also included would be excavating out part of the front yard where we have water issues to make something like a detention area for storm water. They came in at $29,600 for everything.
Second company estimated the size at 593 sqyd. They would do 2.5" compacted 25mm binder and 1.5" compacted 9.5mm wear course. Also includes similar excavation for storm water area. They came in at around $23,000.
I'm trying to decide on which company to choose. We have regular deliveries of propane which is a pretty large truck. Occassionally a septic truck every few years. I also have a 7500 lb camper that would be pulled with my pickup truck regularly. Looking for some input from experts. Thank you.
