I got accepted to both ACS Project SEED and MIT BWSI Medlytics, and I’m trying to decide which would be stronger/more worthwhile for the summer.

For Project SEED, I’d be doing an in-person biomedical lab placement related to cancer biology/pharmacology, with some mix of wet-lab and computational/in silico work. It seems longer and more hands-on, and overall closer to actual research with a mentor (+ there’s also a stipend.)

BWSI Medlytics is virtual and more focused on data science for health/medicine, which also aligns with my interests (biomedical research, neuroscience, computational health kinda vibe.) The MIT name is obv a plus but I’m not sure how it compares to a real lab placement.

It kind of feels like actual lab experience vs. program name/prestige, but I’m not sure how much prestige BWSI Medlytics specifically has or how valuable/quantifiable the SEED experience would be.

Does anyone have experience with either program? Which one has better mentorship, outputs, admissions value, or overall experience?

I’d really appreciate any input or personal experiences anyone can share and I’m happy to answer questions too!
