Hey everyone!

Me and my girlfriend are planning a mid‑week trip to the Lake District in august and will be travelling from Edinburgh by car . She works weekends so we’ll likely be going Monday–Thursday/Friday.

We’re looking for:

Recommendations on areas to stay (villages/towns)

Budget‑friendly accommodation (B&Bs, guesthouses, hostels, affordable hotels, or nice Airbnbs)

Scenic spots, hikes, lakes, and chill things to do for a couple

Easy places to get to by car

We’re not looking for anything luxury — just clean, cosy, and good value, ideally somewhere with nice walks nearby and a pub or two.

We’ve never been before, so any advice on where to base ourselves and where to visit during the day would be massively appreciated.
