Dextroamphetamine and Bupropion
Like many of you i have been struggling with my meds. Was talking 20mg and sometimes taking 2 (40mg) pus multiple top ups of dextroamphetamine 10-20-30mg some days. I was still struggling) More didnt do much.
I recently went to a new Psych to try and work on my med situation. Basicly was hoping for a double script for addy and dex (20mg + 20mg) since i had been experimenting with old dex to top up the addy. I dont have enough spares to maintain this level. After asking me about my past exc, he wanted to treat my depression first. I have been very resistent to anti depressents most of my life. But i figured fuck it what do i have to loose at this point, not gonna look good if i just push for more meds anyway. If it works it works. If it doesnt ill probably get what i originally wanted.
Well anyway. He want me to try Bupropion(welbutrin), i explained have an extremely busy 2 months can cant risk not being able to function at all. So he decided to renew my old 20mg of dextro a day script rather then continue the adderal.
So in summery taking 150mg bupropiom and 20mg (5mg pills) of dextro a day.
Any its been a week and i dont want to get my hopes up to much but it seems to be working well. Concerningly well.
It was to the point my close friend noticed a sustantial difference in my mood. I noticed how much happier and positive i am. Its been night and Day. To top it all off. Im using ALOT less dextro than i would have needed prior. Also before i would have been crashing with in 1-2 hrs and needed my top up of dex, where i now with less, its lasting long. Like i can even be somewhat productive into the evening. I learned i need to dial back my lastest time from 2pm to like 11am otherwise ill be awake to late as the dex is lasting so long now.
Even at the very end of the day my mood is stable im not irritable brained fogged exc.
I decided to do research and found they work really well together.
"Dextroamphetamine increases the release of dopamine and norepinephrine by reversing the dopamine transporter (DAT) and norepinephrine transporter (NET), while also inhibiting their reuptake. It also inhibits monoamine oxidase (MAO), further increasing catecholamine levels., which is critical for its sustained therapeutic effects."

So what this means in simple terms is; Dextroamphetamine increases the amount of dopamine and norepinephrine the brain and is a reuptake inhibitor making it dual acting, and the Bupropion helps the neurons hold on to the dopamine and norepinephrine(noradrenaline) for longer meaning the benefits last longer and are stronger.
This next part is relevent and an added benefit to the combination. Bare with me here drugaphobes.
This research paper may be on the interaction of MDMA and Bupropion. But the pharmacology is still applicable since MDMA is an SNDRI (seratonine neuroepinephrine dopamine reuptake inhibitor)

We hypothesized that bupropion prevents the pharmacodynamic effects of MDMA to the extent that these effects depend on DA and NE release. Bupropion reduced the MDMA-induced increases in circulating NE, which is a marker of sympathetic system activation, and the cardiostimulant effects of MDMA similarly to the selective NE transporter inhibitor reboxetine"

This means the bupropion ALSO REDUCES THE NEGATIVE SYMPTOMS. I personaly have noticed these results myself, less anxiety, reduced heart rate, no head aches, and the crash is even less intense.
I almost want to cry i am so happy with the results, i am just scared it wont last. Its literally life changing i dont feel so fucked.
