Was hoping to get some advice regarding transitioning into accounting. I graduated in 2019 with a first class honours degree in Microbiology. Since then I’ve worked various science/lab roles and have wanted to explore a transition. I’d been thinking about accounting and so attended a couple of accountancy early career events, done forage job simulations to get a better idea of what the day to day is like and I think it’s something I want to do. However what I’ve come to realise is that despite my First class honours degree, I don’t meet a lot of the firms UCAS criteria. I didn’t have the best school performance I left school with AABCCC Scottish Highers which was enough to get me into uni but a lot of both the big and mid firms require top 3 grades to be over 120 UCAS points which I’m finding mine aren’t. I guess I’m trying to figure out if this transition is still viable ? Or what my best course of action is given my circumstances. Any advice/guidance is much appreciated
