Urgently Requesting Information on a Third-party Debt Collector (Elevate Pfs)!
Hello everybody,
I, 19M, October of last year was hospitalized and received a $10,000 bill with no way of paying it at the time as I was out a job and didn't think to apply for financial assistance. I did however start paying it in small portions when I first started working at my new job, but neglected to realize that without setting up a payment plan my bill would be considered "over due".
Now, recently as of April, but not unexpectedly my bill was moved over to a third party and I have gained enough financial stability to start paying this bill but I have yet to receive any real information from the Third-party (Elevate Pfs) on how to ACTUALLY pay this bill. I received one phone call in total in which I passed the screening process of any programs I am eligible for on May 6th but I feel so anxious about the whole thing because there's nothing online or on their page about the actual process of paying off this debt.
Does anyone have any insight on what to expect after the screening process, or how long this will take? Can they eventually sue me if I receive nothing by the end of May??
And further addition questions: Is there any way I can still request an itemized bill from the Hospital to negotiate the price down? Or any way I can request the Hospital to claim back the debt so I can pay directly through them?
This whole process of lack of communication since the start of April has been nothing but torture and I want nothing more than to start paying this bill!
Please let me know if you have insight on even the littlest of things! I could really use it.
