Hello! I'm thinking of switching my major from Environmental Science to Society and Environment/Ecosystem Management. These two majors at my college don't require ochem or calc (for S&E) like pure environmental science.

If I complete either major without doing these courses, would this impact my application for an environmental science/sustainability PhD (make it less competitive for admissions)?

I'm hoping to do something more applied/field related for my PhD in the future.

For the entry level writing exam, if we take it, do we still have to take ENG 01A or can we skip that course? I'm thinking of taking a CC course instead, but if I can skip it using the exam that would be best. Thank you!

Hello!

Sorry, my friend is deciding between UIUC, NYU, and UCI, hoping to go into UI/UX in the future. She's really torn between the three and wanted to see some perspectives from the students here before she made her final decision.

She would have no student debt but would have to pay her family back for the college funds.

For NYU: 95k per year

she really, really liked the city when she stayed for a 2 wk program and feels the city fits her, def wants to go to nyu but worried abu cost and roi as well as slightly abu campus culture/college feel

UIUC: 60-65k OOS, info sciences is very strong and has tighter college spirit/stereotypical college life feel, however small college town outside campus/in middle of nowhere, could get minor in CS

UCI: 40K Instate, info science may not be as strong? cheaper and proximity to la so she can visit friends, concern about college lfie feel/social scene and less good school name for info sci? (she's not sure about the strength of the info sci program here)

What you think? Any advice/opinions would be appreciated!
