Taking forever to schedule RAI
Hi everyone!
I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in January 2026 and had a TT February 2026. Pathology found my lymph nodes and tracheal wall were positive, and I've been referred for RAI. I had my appointment with my endocrinologist on 4/29, but was told the nuclear pathologist that works in my hospital network is leaving at the end of May and not taking new patients, and there isn't another one in my hospital network in my area. I have to go through another network to use their pathologist, and was told my office would contact that office to get my treatment scheduled. The thing is, it's been almost 2 weeks since that appointment and I'm still not scheduled. I did call last week for a status, and was told it was taking longer to schedule because of working with the other network, which I of course understand. I'm just really working myself up about it taking so long, because in my head, I have cancer in my body that I have no idea if it's spreading or not. And what if it spreads to my actual trachea, wouldn't we have a much bigger problem??
How quick after TT did everyone get their RAI? Am I just overly anxious?
