In the past, I got really into fish keeping and aquascapes in general, but I failed in both of my previous attempts. In both cases, algae took over within a month and I gave up. Also, my scapes were very unpleasant to look at. I never even got to the point where I could get any fish.

I was tempted to start again because there is so much information online and I feel like I’ve learned a lot new things. For this scape, I went off of MD Fish Tanks on YouTube. I want to try the dark start method for cycling, and I’d appreciate input if you’ve tried this before! I plan to plant lots of Java fern and anubias around the wood once it’s fully cycled, and eventually keep a school of celestial pearl danios. I’m very excited and hopeful!
