My husband and I have 2 cars that we both use. Both are completely paid off, our commuter car is a 2019 Jeep Cherokee about to hit 100k miles. There is a dent in a door from another door, but otherwise in good shape. We also have a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica mini van, about 90k miles. Both purchased together in Feb 2022. We have small kids, so I'd like to keep the van longer, but I'd ultimately like to space out swapping out the cars by a few years more practically speaking. Let's say we keep our van at least 3 more years, possibly more. Would it be crazy to switch out the Jeep Cherokee (which I don't believe has the best track record) for a Mazda CX5 or what would you recommend? 3 kids so something that can fit them in a row, but nothing huge, like a compact SUV with only 2 rows. Obviously we could keep both cars super long, but I'm balancing wanting to be smart not switching too often with not getting into bad repair territory. And ultimately want them a bit more staggered when they potentially need a trade in. Would love thoughts on best time of year to trade, thoughts on the cars we have, if the plan is solid, etc.
