Does mesalazine actually work?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if oral mesalazine and mesalazine enemas (with or without diluted corticosteroids added to them) have helped anyone here achieve remission confirmed by colonoscopy?

And if yes, did you also change anything in your diet?

Personally, mesalazine enemas seem to work while I’m using them, but after 2–3 days without them, the bleeding comes back again. Basically, I keep failing at the tapering phase of the enemas. I get the same result even when using corticosteroids diluted in the enema.

I’d really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences.

Vitamin "U" from cabbage juice

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

I'd like to know if anyone has tried the "vitamin U" derived from raw cabbage juice for UC? For example, to help to induce remission or prevent relapse?

This information comes from an article, but for peptic ulcer.

Here's the abstract:

"Vitamin U, administered as raw cabbage juice to 100 patients with peptic ulcer, was apparently effective in promoting the rapid healing of uncomplicated peptic ulcers. The evidence of therapeutic benefit was (1) the rapid relief of the symptom, pain, without theuse of any set plan of symptomatic treatment, and (2) ulcer crater healing time (determined roentgenographically) considerably shorter than in groups of cases, reported in the literature, in which "standard" types of diet and drug therapy were employed.
