So i came across this listing while i was driving through Oklahoma and this older cowboy was selling his 10 year old 200x steel American felt hat naturally i was interested because although i like felt hats i know 200x is just above what im comfortable spending. After some back and forth i ended up meeting with him and buying the hat for $300 now im not one to buy second hand hats that have been worn a lot if i buy second hand it will usually be off a person who you can tell after looking at the hat was probably only worn a handful of times. This hat was not that it had clearly been worn and the sweat band and lining were in tough shape certainly to the point where i wouldn’t put it on but the felt looked good in pictures and the 2 worn spots were something i think i could get rid of. Now after getting it in person my suspicions were right the 2 spots where the ears would sit were not rubbed off felt but years of skin oils rubbing up in the hat. I knew what i was getting into so luckily i did my research and dropped the hat off at a store where they will send the hat off to American to be fully restored. I am excited because although i only had the hat in my possession for a few hours before i shipped it off the felt even after 10 years felt so much better than my 40x I’m excited to see what i get back from American I’m hoping i can get something as close to a brand new hat although i have been told it could take 3-4 months before i get it back. I will update the post once i get the hat back but these are the pictures of before i sent

it in to American
