Moving back to NZ later this year after a stint overseas.
We’ll be mortgage free, have our emergency fund sorted, and about $50k to invest for our 3 boys’ future like uni or house deposit help.
Oldest is 8, so thinking:
First withdrawal around 12 years
Then again around 4 years after
Then around 2 years after that
I know this has probably been asked a hundred times in here, but I’m too lazy to dig through old threads.
I keep seeing “just buy index funds and chill” — is that still the current meta in NZ?
Main things I’m trying to figure out:
What people are actually using like Kernel, InvestNow, Simplicity etc
Whether it should just be one fund or split given the staggered timing
Anything NZ specific I should be thinking about like PIE or FIF
Not interested in stock picking or anything fancy, just want something simple and effective.
What would you do in this situation
