Mostly speaking to the total joint surgeons but what is your opinion with the hypoallergenic implant options to address “metal allergies”?

I’ve heard conflicting views. Some think it’s BS and others think there’s something to it. Ive also read studies where most of the metal ions are coming from the instrumentation, not necessarily the implants.

Is nickel the main concern? How do you go about addressing this issue with patients? What tests are doing?
