Calling all Master of Social Work students...
I'm tossing up between Melbourne or Monash and would love to hear your experience to help me decide.
I've heard university ranking and prestige don't count for much in the field. The key factors for me are:
Travel time. I live inner west so Melbourne University would halve my travel time. That said it's only half an hour to Caulfield campus where my classes at Monash would be based, so not a make or break.
Social scene. Upon Google search it seems Melbourne University offers a lot more in the way of clubs and events. That said, anecdotally I'm hearing Monash has a more friendly and open vibe.
I'm in my 30s now and after going through undergrad in my early 20s and finding to be a really underwhelming experience socially (lived far away from campus and worked long hours during study to get by). I'm definitely keen to do it differently the second time round.
- Experience with placements. I've heard this is the biggest factor in deciding success at finding good jobs after graduation, so I'd love to hear how it was handled and what opportunities where offered by the uni?
Thanks all 😊
